                There is no maverick repository though (and if this was on LP, I could easily have done a maverick rebuild in my own PPA).

                If someone wants to maintain MariaDB PPAs, they are welcome - contact maria-developers@lists.launchpad.net to discuss this and request any login privileges that may be needed.
