I don't see an obvious reason why it fails, there is sync_with_master everywhere.
Also, it doesn't look like a timing issue in the sense that master issued some kind of a service message, because only State field differs, while all positions are the same.
Could be something wrong with MASTER_POS_WAIT or with status reporting in multi-master configuration?..
Needs further investigation.
