          Description

          it would be great to implement protocol and transport.
          this will significantly reduce amount of data traffic between nodes (cassandra and maria)
          and query processing time.

                Cassandra 1.2 has introduced new, native protocol. It also uses CQL instead of Thrift API. As a consequence, this task is not as relevant anymore.

                Feel free to create it.

                But currently the priority of CassandraSE tasks is not very high, so most probably we won't be able to implement native Cassandra 1.2 protocol in 10.1.
