Description
I have MySQL Server on port 3306 and MariaDB on port 3308.
I can configure them with old gui tools but with the workbench application,
i cannot configure MariaDB because tabs ( general, Advanced, MyISAM parameters, etc ... except Performance and Misc tabs )
are empty, no information.
The workbench application works perfectly with MySQL
I must named the service MariaDB <MySQL MariaDB> under windows for the gui tools administror tool works.
My PC works under Windows XP Home 32 bits with 4 GB Ram CPY Intel Q9650 Disks 150 GB + 300 GB + 2 TB
I install first MySQL 5.1.47 and i used a modified version of MY.INI to configure and install MariaDB 5.2.4

.. That is, I can really change its value and the change gets into the right place in /etc/mysql/my.cnf.

In the corresponding MySQL bug http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=61219, there is an entry that describes the magic

Workbench works as expected, it is only that the options set is dependent on a server
version, so there is 1 valid option for 5.2.6 according to docteam's xml file which
describes mysql options.
this single option is the optimizer_switch. bet it was introduced in the now already forgotten MySQL 5.2
