      Description

It seems that as opposed to mysql 5.0, mariadb doesn't parse the configuration file when started with --help --verbose. Not in itself an issue, but it used to provide an excellent way of testing a new my.cnf without needing to restart the server and risk down-time.

            Maria,
You might also want to see Bug #305065. It mentions the case when mysqld crashes upon particular setting in my.cnf which means it does parse the my.cnf file successfully.

Yeh, the long-query-time is a known problem on ourdelta 5.0. MariaDB (which is based off version 5.1) doesn't exhibit that particular issue.

This should be fixed by Monty's latest commit, which is available in lp:maria and lp:~maria-captains/maria/maria-5.1-merge
